Light & Interactivity Week 12 – 24hr Time Fixture 1

For the final project, Jasper Wang and I decided to create a 24hr time fixture that is comprised of two rings. It will provide an indication of the current hour and minutes, and change colors according to the weather forecast in 4 hours.

We’ll put LEDs inside each ring to provide the lighting.

Since the light fixture should be a functional light source, we decided to turn off the LED pixels at the corresponding location in a circle to indicate time, instead of just turning one / several pixels at that particular location. This this way, we can have a stable level of lighting while still being able to tell time, but in a subtle, less noticeable way.
